MCX records turnover of Rs.8535.65 crores in Commodity Futures & Rs.44291.31 crores in Options

Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.52827.43 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX on 03 January 2025 till 5:00 pm. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 8535.65 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 44291.31 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Jan-25 futures was reached at 18871 point.

Commodity Future Contracts:

Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of Gold and Silver variants clocked Rs. 4884.92 crores. GOLD Feb-25 contract was up by 0.08% to Rs. 77780 per 10 gram, GOLDGUINEA Jan-25 contract was up by 0.14% to Rs. 62700 per 8 gram and GOLDPETAL Jan-25 contract was up by 0.14% to Rs. 7736 per gram. On other hand, GOLDM Jan-25 contract was up by 0.36% to Rs. 77125 per 10 gram.

SILVER Mar-25 contract was up by 0.62% to Rs. 89728 per kg, while SILVERM Feb-25 contract was up by 0.58% to Rs. 89730 per kg and SILVERMIC Feb-25 contract was up by 0.57% to Rs. 89735 per kg.

Gold futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1966.28 crores with volume of 2527 lots and OI of 15567 lots while Silver futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1200.59 crores with volume of 4471 lots and OI of 34647 lots.

Base Metal: Turnover of base metal products accounted for Rs. 1227.01 crores. COPPER Jan-25 contract was up by 0.21% to Rs. 796.55 per kg and ZINC Jan-25 contract was down by 1.12% to Rs. 273.05 per kg while ALUMINIUM Jan-25 contract was down by 0.71% to Rs. 238.6 per kg and LEAD Jan-25 contract was down by 0.2% to Rs. 176.95 per kg.

Copper futures clocked turnover of Rs. 522.02 crores, Aluminium futures Rs. 153.10 crores, Lead futures Rs. 43.10 crores, and Zinc futures clocked turnover of Rs. 379.41 crores.

Energy: Turnover of energy products contributed for Rs. 2427.31 crores. CRUDEOIL Jan-25 contract was down by 0.52% to Rs. 6266 per BBL while NATURALGAS Jan-25 contract was down by 5.24% to Rs. 301.9 per MMBTU.

Crude Oil futures clocked turnover of Rs. 353.19 crores and Natural Gas futures Rs. 1682.12 crores.

AGRI: MENTHAOIL Jan-25 contract was up by 0.04% to Rs. 941 per kg and COTTONCNDY Jan-25 contract was up by 0.07% to Rs. 54480 per candy.

Options on Commodity Future Contracts:

Commodity Options accounted for Rs. 44291.31 crores turnover (notional), having premium turnover of Rs. 849.91 crores.

Crude Oil Options: Most traded contracts among Crude Oil Options were Call Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.6300 was down by 17.88% to Rs. 105.60 with volume of 51113 lots & OI of 12500 lots, while Crude Oil Put Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.6200 was up by 6.8% to Rs. 95.8 with volume of 51137 lots & OI of 20114 lots.

Natural Gas Options: Most traded contracts among Natural Gas Options were Call Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.310 was down by 30.28% to Rs. 20.15 with volume of 10510 lots & OI of 2782 lots, while Natural Gas Put Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.300 was up by 34.17% to Rs. 21.4 with volume of 15829 lots & OI of 5174 lots.

Gold Options: Most traded contracts among Gold Options were Call Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.78000 was up by 5.64% to Rs. 862.00 with volume of 1041 lots & OI of 481 lots, while Gold Put Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.77000 was down by 1.8% to Rs. 626.5 with volume of 1048 lots & OI of 653 lots.

Silver Options: Most traded contracts among Silver Options were Call Option Feb-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.90000 was up by 10.59% to Rs. 2929.00 with volume of 397 lots & OI of 1152 lots, while Silver Put Option Feb-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.85000 was down by 10.5% to Rs. 1069.5 with volume of 296 lots & OI of 566 lots.
