Delhi Polls: Congress Unveils "Mehngai Mukt" Yojana with Promises of Free Electricity, Subsidized LPG, and More

New Delhi: With Delhi's upcoming Assembly elections slated for February 5, Congress is making bold promises under its "Mehngai Mukt" Yojana to appeal to voters grappling with rising inflation. Addressing the media on Thursday, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, alongside Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav, announced key election pledges. Congress vowed to deliver 300 units of free electricity, provide LPG cylinders at just Rs 500, and offer free ration kits if they return to power.
Additionally, in a move to appeal to women voters, Congress has promised Rs 2,500 for every woman, and as part of its "Jeevan Raksha Yojana," free health cover of up to Rs 25 lakh. The party also revealed plans to support educated, unemployed youth by offering Rs 8,500 per month for one year.
The outcome of this election, to be declared on February 8, comes after Congress' dismal performance in the past two Assembly elections, where they failed to secure any seats. With AAP aiming for a hattrick and the BJP intensifying its anti-AAP campaign, the Congress' promises aim to strike a chord with Delhi's electorate seeking relief amidst economic challenges.
