Donald Trump Appoints Indian-American Sriram Krishnan as White House AI Advisor

On Sunday, US President-elect Donald Trump appointed Indian-American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and author Sriram Krishnan as the Senior White House Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence.

"Sriram Krishnan will serve as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy," Trump announced, revealing a series of AI-related appointments.

Krishnan, who has previously held leadership roles in product teams at major tech companies like Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap, will work alongside David O. Sacks, who will take on the role of White House AI & Crypto Czar.

“Working closely with David Sacks, Sriram will focus on ensuring that the US maintains its leadership in AI and will help develop and coordinate AI policies across the government, including collaborating with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology,” Trump stated. "Sriram began his career at Microsoft as one of the founding members of Windows Azure."

In response, Krishnan expressed, "I’m honored to serve our country and contribute to maintaining America's leadership in AI, working alongside David Sacks."

The Indian-American community has warmly welcomed Krishnan's appointment.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Sriram Krishnan and are thrilled by his appointment by President-elect Donald Trump as Senior Policy Advisor at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy,” said Sanjeev Joshipura, Executive Director of Indiaspora.

“For several years, Sriram has been a respected thought leader and influential voice in the AI field. His experience blending public policy, international affairs, investment, and technology will serve him well in this critical role,” he added.

“As Indiaspora continues to foster discussions and leadership on AI both in the US and globally, we look forward to collaborating closely with Sriram,” Joshipura concluded.
