Farmers to Resume Delhi March on December 14: No Response from Government Yet

Patiala, Punjab: Punjab farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced on Tuesday that protesting farmers will resume their foot march to Delhi on December 14, citing a lack of response from the central government regarding their demands. The decision was made after a meeting of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha at the Shambhu border protest site.
Pandher emphasized the farmers' willingness to engage in dialogue, stating, “We gave time, but there has been no message from the Centre. The path to agitation is open.” A new group of 101 farmers will begin the march from the Shambhu border, Pandher confirmed, while also urging Punjabi celebrities to use their platforms to amplify the farmers' cause.
The agitation was temporarily suspended on Sunday after clashes at the Punjab-Haryana border left several farmers injured due to teargas shelling by Haryana police. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini criticized opposition parties for politicizing the farmers’ issues, accusing them of inaction in states they govern.
Meanwhile, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s fast unto death entered its 15th day. Reports from his colleagues indicate a concerning decline in his health, with fluctuating blood sugar levels and significant weight loss. In solidarity, his native village Dalewal observed a collective fast on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, farmers will observe ‘Prarthna Divas’ (Prayer Day) to pray for the success of their agitation and the health of Dallewal and those injured in the protests.
