Global Market Faces Downturn, Asia Shows Mixed Results

New Delhi, December 20 :Today, there are signs of weakness from the global markets. The US markets closed with slight weakness during the previous session. However, Dow Jones futures are currently showing a significant decline. The European markets also saw heavy selling during the last session. In Asia, mixed trading is being observed today.

During the previous session, the US markets remained under pressure, causing the Wall Street indices to close lower. The S&P 500 index closed 0.09% weaker at 5,867.08 points. Similarly, Nasdaq fell 0.12% and ended the previous session at 19,369.58 points. Dow Jones futures are currently trading 260.42 points, or 0.62%, lower at 42,081.82 points.

Like the US markets, the European markets also saw continuous selling pressure in the last session. The FTSE index closed 1.16% lower at 8,105.32 points. The CAC index ended the previous session 1.24% lower at 7,294.37 points. Additionally, the DAX index fell 272.71 points, or 1.37%, closing at 19,969.86 points.

In the Asian markets, mixed trading is being observed today. Out of 9 Asian markets, 5 indices are trading with slight gains in the green zone, while 4 indices are in the red zone with losses. The Straits Times index is trading 0.87% weaker at 3,730.24 points. Similarly, the Taiwan Weighted index fell 218.78 points, or 0.95%, to 22,713.47 points. The KOSPI index has seen a significant decline today, currently down 1.66% at 2,395.44 points. The SET Composite index is down 0.76%, trading at 1,367.06 points.

On the other hand, the GIFT Nifty is trading with a 0.13% gain at 24,035 points. The Hang Seng index has risen 0.18%, reaching 19,787.90 points. Additionally, the Nikkei index is up 0.04% at 38,831 points, the Jakarta Composite index has increased by 0.04% to 6,979.80 points, and the Shanghai Composite index is up 0.54%, trading at 3,388.22 points.
