Kailash Gahlot Joins BJP, Cites "Compromised Values" of AAP

New Delhi : In a major political shift, Kailash Gahlot, former Delhi Transport Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. His move, just months before the Delhi Assembly elections, has sent ripples through the political landscape.
Addressing media speculation, Gahlot dismissed claims of pressure from central investigative agencies like the CBI or ED, stating, "I have never taken decisions under pressure." Instead, he attributed his decision to a growing disillusionment with AAP, accusing the party of compromising its foundational values in favour of political ambitions.
Gahlot, once a close confidant of Arvind Kejriwal, was at the forefront during pivotal moments for AAP, including Kejriwal's imprisonment during the alleged liquor policy scam. However, internal rifts reportedly began to surface after his removal as Law Minister last year.
The BJP hailed Gahlot's induction as a "turning point" for the upcoming elections, underscoring his reputation as a seasoned politician who has represented the Nazafgarh Assembly constituency since 2015.
This defection underscores the high-stakes political battle brewing between AAP and BJP, with Gahlot's departure marking a significant blow to AAP’s leadership cadre.
