Maharashtra: Beed Man Accused of Injuring Pet Dog’s Eye; Video Sparks Outrage

Beed, Maharashtra – February 13, 2025: A disturbing incident has emerged from Beed district in Maharashtra, where a 30-year-old man, Kiran Sunil Sable, is accused of mistreating his pet dog, leading to serious injury. The case has raised concerns after a video surfaced online showing the dog in distress.

According to reports, the incident took place on February 9, when Sable allegedly tied the dog’s legs and attempted to hang her. He is also accused of using a knife to injure the dog’s left eye, which was dislodged during the attack. The dog was left in significant discomfort and pain.

Animal rights activists shared a video of the incident, showing the dog tied to the ceiling and visibly distressed. Despite her pain, the dog managed to free herself, which led to her rescue. The video quickly gained attention on social media, with many condemning the act and demanding action against the accused.

Vijay Rangare, President of People for Animals (PFA) Mumbai, shared the video on Instagram, urging for justice for the pet. "The dog was immediately rescued and rushed to the Government Veterinary Hospital for treatment," Rangare confirmed. The case was reported to the Ambhora Police Station, and an FIR was filed under Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code and the Animal Cruelty Act (11(1)).

Initially, a non-cognizable report (NC) was filed, but animal activists pressed for further action, resulting in the filing of an FIR. The authorities are now investigating the matter.

As of Thursday morning, the accused has not been arrested. Rangare expressed concern, stating, “We will be urging higher authorities to arrest the accused, as his actions not only reflect mistreatment of animals but also pose a risk to societal well-being.”

The injured dog is currently receiving medical care and is expected to recover. Animal rights groups continue to call for stronger protections for animals and justice in this case.

This incident has sparked further discussions on the need for stronger animal welfare laws and increased awareness of the proper treatment of animals. Authorities are expected to take additional steps to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
