Maharashtra to Roll Out Statewide Online Property Registration from May 1

Mumbai: Beginning May 1, 2025, Maharashtra will launch a statewide online property registration system, eliminating the need for buyers and sellers to visit sub-registrar offices. The new initiative, titled ‘One State, One Registration’, allows property transactions to be processed remotely from anywhere in the state, using Aadhaar and Income Tax documents for verification.

Property buyers in Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, or any other city in Maharashtra can now register properties from any location, marking a major digital shift in real estate dealings. The system was initially piloted in Mumbai and is now being extended across all 519 sub-registrar offices with support from the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule emphasized that physical presence will no longer be required, as the platform enables online payment of stamp duty and issuance of e-stamp certificates. A new Leave and Licenses 2.0 system will also be introduced to streamline the process further.

The move aligns with Digital India goals, aiming to improve transparency, ease of access, and efficiency in property registrations across Maharashtra.
