MCX records turnover of Rs.10413.16 crores in Commodity Futures & Rs.80681.34 crores in Options

Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.91098.98 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX on 23 December 2024 till 5:00 pm. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 10413.16 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 80681.34 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Dec-24 futures was reached at 18550 point.

Commodity Future Contracts:

Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of Gold and Silver variants clocked Rs. 5933.67 crores. GOLD Feb-25 contract was down by 0.27% to Rs. 76211 per 10 gram, GOLDGUINEA Dec-24 contract was down by 0.34% to Rs. 61238 per 8 gram and GOLDPETAL Dec-24 contract was down by 0.43% to Rs. 7608 per gram. On other hand, GOLDM Jan-25 contract was down by 0.3% to Rs. 75558 per 10 gram.

SILVER Mar-25 contract was up by 0.74% to Rs. 89047 per kg, while SILVERM Feb-25 contract was up by 0.71% to Rs. 89075 per kg and SILVERMIC Feb-25 contract was up by 0.68% to Rs. 89070 per kg.

Gold futures clocked turnover of Rs. 2077.32 crores with volume of 2717 lots and OI of 14585 lots while Silver futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1631.95 crores with volume of 6102 lots and OI of 35410 lots.

Base Metal: Turnover of base metal products accounted for Rs. 2041.11 crores. COPPER Dec-24 contract was up by 0.13% to Rs. 799.4 per kg and ZINC Dec-24 contract was up by 0.82% to Rs. 281.4 per kg while ALUMINIUM Dec-24 contract was up by 1.01% to Rs. 245.4 per kg and LEAD Dec-24 contract was up by 0.17% to Rs. 176.65 per kg.

Copper futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1270.79 crores, Aluminium futures Rs. 220.33 crores, Lead futures Rs. 44.77 crores, and Zinc futures clocked turnover of Rs. 357.74 crores.

Energy: Turnover of energy products contributed for Rs. 2613.61 crores. CRUDEOIL Jan-25 contract was down by 0.39% to Rs. 5915 per BBL while NATURALGAS Dec-24 contract was up by 2.69% to Rs. 328.8 per MMBTU.

Crude Oil futures clocked turnover of Rs. 314.30 crores and Natural Gas futures Rs. 1972.83 crores.

AGRI: MENTHAOIL Dec-24 contract was up by 0.12% to Rs. 921 per kg and COTTONCNDY Jan-25 contract was up by 0.69% to Rs. 54300 per candy.

Options on Commodity Future Contracts:

Commodity Options accounted for Rs. 80681.34 crores turnover (notional), having premium turnover of Rs. 1115.53 crores.

Crude Oil Options: Most traded contracts among Crude Oil Options were Call Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.6000 was down by 7.93% to Rs. 130.00 with volume of 51531 lots & OI of 20574 lots, while Crude Oil Put Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.5900 was up by 6.89% to Rs. 166 with volume of 54834 lots & OI of 11953 lots.

Natural Gas Options: Most traded contracts among Natural Gas Options were Call Option Dec-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.330 was down by 13.83% to Rs. 4.05 with volume of 57281 lots & OI of 7670 lots, while Natural Gas Put Option Dec-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.330 was down by 54.05% to Rs. 6.8 with volume of 50527 lots & OI of 3844 lots.

Gold Options: Most traded contracts among Gold Options were Call Option Dec-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.78000 was down by 15.95% to Rs. 147.50 with volume of 2983 lots & OI of 1719 lots, while Gold Put Option Dec-24 contract at Strike price of Rs.75000 was up by 8.05% to Rs. 221.5 with volume of 2189 lots & OI of 1834 lots.

Silver Options: Most traded contracts among Silver Options were Call Option Feb-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.89000 was up by 6.56% to Rs. 3397.00 with volume of 632 lots & OI of 230 lots, while Silver Put Option Feb-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.89000 was down by 9.41% to Rs. 3393.5 with volume of 303 lots & OI of 168 lots.
