ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025: Indian Team Announced, Nikki Prasad to be Captain

New Delhi, December 24 :The Women's Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025. Nikki Prasad has been appointed as the captain of the team, while Sanika Chalke will be the vice-captain. The tournament will be held in Malaysia from January 18, 2025, to February 2, 2025.
Under Nikki's captaincy, India recently won the Under-19 Women's Asia Cup by defeating Bangladesh.
The Under-19 World Cup will feature 16 teams, divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each. India, the defending champions, has been placed in Group A alongside host Malaysia, the West Indies, and Sri Lanka.
The Group stage matches for the Indian team will be hosted at the BayuMas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. India will begin their campaign on January 19, 2025, against the West Indies.
After the conclusion of the group stage matches, the top three teams from each group will qualify for the Super Sixes.
The 12 teams qualifying for the Super Six will be divided into two groups. Group 1 will feature the top three teams from Group A and Group D, while Group 2 will consist of the top three teams from Group B and Group C.
In the Super Six phase, each team will carry forward their wins, points, and net run rate (NRR) from their matches against the other Super Six qualifying teams. Each team will play two games against opponents from different groups.
The top two teams from each Super Six group will qualify for the semifinals, which will take place on January 31, 2025. The final of the tournament will be held on February 2, 2025.
