MCX records turnover of Rs.10526.34 crores in Commodity Futures & Rs.88183.18 crores in Options

Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.98710.09 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX on 08 January 2025 till 5:00 pm. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 10526.34 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 88183.18 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Jan-25 futures was reached at 18965 point.
Commodity Future Contracts:
Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of Gold and Silver variants clocked Rs. 4713.61 crores. GOLD Feb-25 contract was down by 0.02% to Rs. 77518 per 10 gram, GOLDGUINEA Jan-25 contract was up by 0.06% to Rs. 62552 per 8 gram and GOLDPETAL Jan-25 contract was up by 0.05% to Rs. 7720 per gram. On other hand, GOLDM Feb-25 contract was down by 0.01% to Rs. 77503 per 10 gram.
SILVER Mar-25 contract was up by 0.06% to Rs. 90930 per kg, while SILVERM Feb-25 contract was up by 0.07% to Rs. 90965 per kg and SILVERMIC Feb-25 contract was up by 0.06% to Rs. 90950 per kg.
Gold futures clocked turnover of Rs. 2114.64 crores with volume of 2720 lots and OI of 15403 lots while Silver futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1185.81 crores with volume of 4337 lots and OI of 28966 lots.
Base Metal: Turnover of base metal products accounted for Rs. 1792.99 crores. COPPER Jan-25 contract was up by 0.01% to Rs. 816.7 per kg and ZINC Jan-25 contract was down by 1.04% to Rs. 271.05 per kg while ALUMINIUM Jan-25 contract was down by 0.21% to Rs. 239.85 per kg and LEAD Jan-25 contract was down by 0.23% to Rs. 177.3 per kg.
Copper futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1136.73 crores, Aluminium futures Rs. 56.10 crores, Lead futures Rs. 24.33 crores, and Zinc futures clocked turnover of Rs. 436.46 crores.
Energy: Turnover of energy products contributed for Rs. 4089.95 crores. CRUDEOIL Jan-25 contract was up by 0.31% to Rs. 6405 per BBL while NATURALGAS Jan-25 contract was up by 3.93% to Rs. 312.4 per MMBTU.
Crude Oil futures clocked turnover of Rs. 1047.37 crores and Natural Gas futures Rs. 2495.07 crores.
AGRI: MENTHAOIL Jan-25 contract was down by 0.06% to Rs. 950 per kg and COTTONCNDY Jan-25 contract was up by 0.09% to Rs. 54930 per candy.
Options on Commodity Future Contracts:
Commodity Options accounted for Rs. 88183.18 crores turnover (notional), having premium turnover of Rs. 1424.06 crores.
Crude Oil Options: Most traded contracts among Crude Oil Options were Call Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.6400 was up by 17.91% to Rs. 111.90 with volume of 114364 lots & OI of 14791 lots, while Crude Oil Put Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.6400 was down by 13.37% to Rs. 95.9 with volume of 125962 lots & OI of 15048 lots.
Natural Gas Options: Most traded contracts among Natural Gas Options were Call Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.310 was up by 35.8% to Rs. 22.00 with volume of 20412 lots & OI of 3642 lots, while Natural Gas Put Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.300 was down by 24.87% to Rs. 14.5 with volume of 18321 lots & OI of 5406 lots.
Gold Options: Most traded contracts among Gold Options were Call Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.78000 was up by 3.82% to Rs. 693.00 with volume of 1210 lots & OI of 600 lots, while Gold Put Option Jan-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.77000 was down by 1.1% to Rs. 630 with volume of 1119 lots & OI of 821 lots.
Silver Options: Most traded contracts among Silver Options were Call Option Feb-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.91000 was up by 4.18% to Rs. 2991.50 with volume of 450 lots & OI of 365 lots, while Silver Put Option Feb-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.90000 was down by 1.22% to Rs. 2348 with volume of 341 lots & OI of 899 lots.
