Mumbai's BMC Launches Demolition Drive in Saki Naka, Dismantles Illegal Structures

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carried out a large-scale demolition operation on Wednesday, targeting illegal alterations in hotels, dormitories, and structures in the industrial area of Saki Naka. The civic team dismantled internal walls, illegal floors, and various other unauthorised constructions that violated building regulations.
The action was carried out under the BMC’s L ward jurisdiction, focusing on unauthorised constructions near Safed Pool in Saki Naka. Among the structures affected were the illegal extensions of a hotel building, as well as the demolition of internal walls and floors that breached construction laws.
In addition to the hotel, the demolition operation also targeted two dormitories located on the 90-foot road in Saki Naka, including a building with 18 rooms situated near the Asalpha Metro Station. Another unauthorised hotel with 40 rooms was also razed to the ground.
The operation involved over 30 workers and 30 police personnel, accompanied by BMC’s Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and Junior Engineers. To ensure the success of the operation, heavy machinery, including Poclain and JCB vehicles, were deployed to assist in the swift dismantling of the structures.
This demolition drive highlights the BMC's continued efforts to address illegal construction and ensure adherence to building regulations in Mumbai’s rapidly developing areas.
