Nigerian National Arrested in Khar With 48.5 Grams of Cocaine Worth ₹4.5 Lakh

Mumbai, July 7, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug peddling, the Khar Police on Saturday arrested a 32-year-old Nigerian national for allegedly possessing cocaine worth ₹4.5 lakh. The accused, identified as Ruben Ajah Okaro, was found with 48.5 grams of the banned substance during a routine police patrol in Khar West.
According to the police, Okaro resides in Nalasopara East and was apprehended behind the railway colony on Road No. 30, in front of Galaxy Cinema, Khar West. The arrest was made by a team led by Police Inspector Vaibhav Katkar and Assistant Police Inspector Yogesh Jadhav.
Acting on suspicion during patrol duty, the police approached Okaro and found cocaine in his possession. Upon further verification, it was confirmed that the seized substance was 48.5 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately ₹4.5 lakh in the illicit market.
A case has been registered against the accused at Khar Police Station under sections 8(a) and 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The police are now investigating the source of the drugs and whether the accused is part of a larger drug distribution network operating in the city. Efforts are on to trace his local contacts and suppliers.
This arrest adds to a series of recent actions by the Mumbai Police to curb narcotics trafficking in suburban areas, especially near railway colonies and public gathering spaces.
