Nikhat Khan Talks About Raksha Bandhan Traditions with the Khan Family

(Mumbai)Actor Nikhat Khan, who recently appeared in the blockbuster film Pathaan (2023), has shared her enthusiasm for the Raksha Bandhan festival, revealing that her family observes the occasion with great fervor and joy. As the festival approaches, Nikhat is looking forward to celebrating at her younger brother, actor-producer Aamir Khan’s home.
In an interview, Nikhat described Raksha Bandhan as one of the Khan family's most cherished traditions. "Raksha Bandhan is something we always celebrate with a lot of joy," she said. "This time, too, we will be celebrating, but my sister Farhat, the youngest of the four Khan siblings, is abroad, so we will miss her. I will perform the rituals on her behalf this year, as she did for me last year when I was traveling."
Nikhat fondly recalled the traditional festivities, noting that the Khan family’s celebration includes the ritual of tika, accompanied by diya (a traditional oil lamp) and mithai (sweets). "On Raksha Bandhan, sweets are an absolute must, and there’s no restraint in enjoying them!" she added with a smile.
The Khan family adds a personal touch to the festival, with Aamir Khan participating in the rituals in a unique way. "Aamir ties Rakhi on us as well, which is a special tradition in our family. It symbolizes that protection and care are mutual; it’s not just about him protecting us but us protecting him too. It’s a sweet and meaningful part of our celebration,” Nikhat explained.
This tradition highlights the close-knit nature of the Khan family and their commitment to maintaining cultural practices with enthusiasm and love. As they gather for Raksha Bandhan, the family continues to blend tradition with their personal touch, making the festival even more special.
