Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh Tours US Advanced Water Tunnel Facility, Assesses Potential for Indigenous Development.

Delhi,Memphis, Tennessee,  Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh recently toured the William B Morgan Large Cavitation Channel (LCC) at the Naval Surface Warfare Centre (NSWC) in Memphis, Tennessee. This facility is celebrated for being one of the world's largest and most advanced water tunnel systems, designed for comprehensive testing of submarines, torpedoes, naval surface ships, and propellers.

During his visit, Shri Rajnath Singh received a detailed briefing on the LCC's technological capabilities and observed a live tunnel experiment demonstrating the facility’s state-of-the-art technology. He was accompanied by key officials, including the Indian Ambassador to the US, the Director General of Naval Operations from the Indian Navy, and the Defence Technology Counsellor from DRDO.

The Raksha Mantri was welcomed by the US Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy for Policy and received an in-depth briefing from the Commander and Technical Director of the NSWC. Discussions during the visit also explored the feasibility of developing a similar advanced water tunnel facility in India, aimed at bolstering indigenous naval technology development.

This visit underscores a significant effort to advance India's naval capabilities and deepen defence cooperation between India and the United States. Establishing such a facility in India would significantly enhance the country’s indigenous defence manufacturing sector, aligning with the 'Make in India' initiative and promoting greater self-reliance in critical defence technologies.
