Sanjiv Khanna to Take Charge as India's 51st Chief Justice today

New Delhi : Justice Sanjiv Khanna is all set to take on the role of the 51st Chief Justice of India as he is sworn in by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. He will be succeeding Justice Chandrachud, who retired with a legacy of significant judicial advancements, technological modernization, and accessibility. As the new Chief Justice, justice Khanna will play a crucial role in addressing the pressing issues of judicial reforms and the ever-increasing case backlog.

His vast experience in both law and administration, spanning over four decades, provides a strong foundation for him to lead the judiciary forward. In his farewell ceremony, Justice Chandrachud expressed confidence in justice Khanna's abilities and commitment to upholding justice, integrity, and the rule of law.

With his unique trajectory of starting from the Tis Hazari district courts of Delhi to becoming a Supreme Court judge without serving as a chief in between, justice Khanna brings a fresh perspective and hope for the future of the Indian judiciary.
