Vasai-Nalasopara: 19 Contestants Set to Compete in Heated Electoral Race

Vasai: 19 candidates have entered the electoral race from the Vasai-Nalasopara constituency, it was confirmed on Monday. Of these, 7 candidates are from Vasai and 12 from Nalasopara. Eight candidates, who were eligible to contest, have withdrawn their nominations. Notably, the withdrawal of Shiv Sena’s Vinayak Nikam, who had rebelled, helped avoid a split in the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

In Vasai, 15 candidates had filed 27 nomination papers. Of these, 5 candidates’ 7 nominations were rejected during the scrutiny process. On the last day for withdrawal, Monday, 4 candidates withdrew 6 nominations, leaving 7 candidates in the race from Vasai. These include Vijay Patil from Maha Vikas Aghadi, Hitendra Thakur from Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, Sneha Dubey from Mahayuti, and independents Rajendra Dhadge, Pralhad Rana, Godfrey Almeida, and Vinod Tambe.

In Nalasopara, 16 candidates had filed 24 nominations. Of these, 1 nomination was rejected and 4 candidates withdrew, leaving 12 candidates in the race. These include Kshitij Thakur from Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, Rajan Naik from Mahayuti, Sandeep Pandey from Maha Vikas Aghadi, Dhananjay Gavde from Prahar Janashakti, Vinod More from MNS, Suchit Gaikwad from Vanchit Aghadi, Suresh Mone from Bahujan Samaj Party, and independents Balram Thakur, Haresh Bhagat, Kirtiraj Lokhande, Vinod Patil, and Narsingh Adawale.

A total of eight candidates have withdrawn from the Vasai-Nalasopara constituency. From Vasai, Shiv Sena's Vinayak Nikam, BVIAs Praveena Thakur, Prahar Janashakti’s Bhavana Pokle, and independent Rajkumar Dubey have withdrawn their nominations. From Nalasopara, Praveena Thakur, Amar Kawale, Dilip Gaikwad, and Prakash Ghatale have also withdrawn their candidacies.
