29-Year-Old Aspiring Actress Accuses Director of Misconduct, Police Investigate

Mira-Bhayandar, Maharashtra — A 29-year-old aspiring actress has accused director Haresh Sanghani of exploiting her under the false promise of offering her a film role. Following her complaint, the Mira Road police have registered a case against the director under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, including allegations of misconduct, deceitful actions, and intimidation. The accused director, however, has not yet been arrested and is currently being sought by the authorities.

In her complaint, the woman (whose identity is being protected) stated that a casting coordinator provided her with Sanghani’s contact details. She met the director in July 2024, and according to the woman, he offered to drop her home. During this encounter, she claims she was made uncomfortable at a secluded spot on the Mira Road highway, with the director explaining that such actions were part of the film industry process to secure roles.

The woman further alleged that between August and September 2024, the director invited her to his office in Andheri (West), where she claims she was repeatedly subjected to inappropriate behavior. The accused reportedly mentioned connections with well-known figures in the film industry to entice her into believing she would get acting opportunities. She also claimed that Sanghani secretly recorded videos, which he used to coerce her into compliance. Despite his promises, the woman alleges that no role was offered to her in any film.

Realizing she had been misled and taken advantage of, the woman approached the Mira Road police on January 6 to file her complaint. The police have begun searching for Sanghani, who is currently absconding. Authorities have assured that the investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as the case progresses.

This case has drawn attention to the need for greater protection and accountability within the entertainment industry to safeguard aspiring actors and actresses from exploitation.
