Amit Shah Cancels Maharashtra Poll Rallies Amid Violent Protests in Manipur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has canceled his scheduled election rallies in Maharashtra due to the escalating violence in Manipur. Shah returned to Delhi in response to the worsening security situation in the Imphal Valley, where protests have intensified following the killing of six civilians, including three women and children, in Jiribam district.
Protests, which have been growing since Saturday, saw mobs attacking the residences of several BJP and Congress legislators, setting fire to homes and causing significant property damage. Among the properties targeted were those of state ministers and MLAs, including BJP PWD Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Congress MLA Th Lokeshwar.
Despite an indefinite curfew being imposed, violence continued as protesters attempted to storm the residence of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, forcing security forces to intervene with tear gas and rubber bullets. The protests have disrupted normal life in the region, with roadblocks and fires continuing to hamper movement.
