Bengaluru Woman Murdered by Live-In Partner, Body Found in Garbage Truck; Accused Arrested

BENGALURU, June 30 – In a shocking incident that has rocked the city, a 38-year-old woman was found murdered and her body stuffed in a gunny sack before being dumped in a garbage truck in South Bengaluru. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Mohammed Shamshuddin (33), a native of Assam and the live-in partner of the deceased.
The victim, Asha (full name withheld), was a widow and mother of two who worked with Urban Company. She had been living with Shamshuddin in a rented accommodation in the Hulimavu area for the past 18 months. Both individuals were previously married and had two children each, but were cohabiting under the pretense of being husband and wife, according to police sources.
The gruesome discovery was made when BBMP workers noticed a suspicious sack while handling municipal waste and alerted the police. Officers from the Channammanakere Achchukattu Police Station responded swiftly. “The woman's hands and neck were tied, and the body was found stuffed inside a sack,” said Joint Commissioner of Police C. Vamsi Krishna.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Lokesh B. Jagalasar, confirmed that a heated argument between the couple had escalated into violence, leading to Asha being strangled to death. The act was reportedly captured on nearby CCTV cameras, which played a crucial role in tracing the suspect. Shamshuddin was apprehended within 24 hours of the body’s discovery.
“We have registered a case of murder and further investigation is underway,” said DCP Jagalasar. Forensic teams are analyzing the crime scene and additional CCTV footage to piece together the sequence of events leading to the murder.
This is the second disturbing case involving a crime of passion reported in Bengaluru this month. Earlier, a 33-year-old woman named Harini was allegedly stabbed 17 times by her partner, 25-year-old Yashas, in a hotel room in Poorna Prajna Layout. The incident came to light only two days later. Both Harini and Yashas were residents of Kengeri.
As incidents of domestic and relationship violence rise in the city, authorities are urging citizens to be vigilant and report any signs of abuse to law enforcement promptly.
