BMC Launches Cleanliness Drive on Mumbai’s Expressways, Completes Ghatkopar Reservoir Repairs

Mumbai, India: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a special cleanliness drive on the Eastern and Western Expressways from March 17 to March 22, aiming to enhance cleanliness, aesthetics, and smooth traffic flow.

The drive will take place between 10 PM and 6 AM daily to minimize disruptions, covering highways, bus stops, footpaths, and dividers. BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani has prioritized the campaign, with Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Ashwini Joshi emphasizing the need for regular maintenance.

Deputy Commissioner Kiran Dighavkar stated that the operation will involve mechanical sweeping, dust removal, jetting, and pressure washing. It will also include maintenance of traffic signs, repainting dividers, removing unauthorized ads, and trimming trees. The Mumbai Traffic Police will assist in managing diversions if needed.

Meanwhile, the BMC has completed repairs on Ghatkopar’s underground reservoir near R. B. Kadam Marg. Water supply will resume on March 17, 2025, but residents are advised to boil and filter drinking water for 10 days, until March 27, 2025, as a precaution.

These initiatives reflect BMC’s commitment to urban cleanliness and public health, ensuring a cleaner and more organized Mumbai.
