Mumbai Police Breaks Up Major Sex Racket in Powai; Four Aspiring Actresses Rescued

Mumbai, March 14: In a major operation, Powai police raided a hotel in the Hiranandani area, uncovering a high-profile prostitution racket and rescuing four aspiring actresses. The police, acting on a tip-off, apprehended 60-year-old Shyamsundar Arora, the man responsible for running the illicit operation.

The raid was carried out after receiving specific information about the sex racket operating from the hotel. A police official confirmed that the authorities laid a trap, posing as customers, which led to the arrest of Arora. The women, who were struggling to find acting opportunities, were rescued and shifted to a shelter for their safety.

"The arrested individual, identified as Shyamsundar Arora, was involved in pushing women into the flesh trade. Four models who had aspirations of becoming actresses were rescued during the operation," the official said.

Arora was found in possession of eight mobile phones and ₹3 lakh in cash, which have been seized by the police. The authorities are now looking for another suspect linked to the racket. The accused has been charged under sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA) and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

One of the victims was reportedly involved in Hindi television shows before being lured into the racket. A case has been filed against Arora and his associate under the relevant sections of the ITPA and BNS at the Powai Police Station, and investigations are ongoing.

The successful raid marks a significant blow to the high-profile sex racket in the city, with authorities continuing their efforts to clamp down on such illegal activities.
