Milk Scam in Parel: Vendor Vanishes with ₹3 Lakh in Advance Payments

Mumbai, India: Residents of Crescent Bay Towers in Parel have been left in shock after a local milk vendor, Sarfaraz, allegedly absconded with nearly ₹3 lakh collected in advance payments. The vendor, who had been supplying milk to the society for over a year, has been untraceable since March 1, prompting residents to file a complaint at the RAK Marg police station.
The scam has affected nearly 200 flats, with residents stating that Sarfaraz accepted payments through Google Pay and cash in exchange for milk coupons. Concerned about the scale of the fraud, the residents have launched a signature campaign to gather more data.
On March 8, a formal complaint was submitted, and on March 13, residents met Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Randive, urging the police to register an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities have assured that an officer will visit the building for further investigation.
Residents are now calling for increased vendor verification and police registration, emphasizing the need for stricter safeguards to prevent similar frauds in other societies.
