Catch the Deadline: Maharashtra’s 2-Crore Vehicle HSRP Initiative

Maharashtra: Maharashtra is setting an ambitious target: fitting High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) on over 1 crore vehicles by March 31, 2025. The state's Transport Commissioner’s Office is leading this task with three appointed agencies across different regions.
To streamline the process, a dedicated online portal has been set up for vehicle owners, offering easy registration, payment, and appointment scheduling for plate installations. Designed to enhance vehicle identification and curb theft, these tamper-proof plates include a chromium-based Ashok Chakra, laser-etched serial number, and a non-removable snap lock system.
Though 2 crore vehicles were initially estimated, the current number is expected to be around 1 crore due to natural vehicle attrition. Maharashtra Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar assures vehicle owners that the HSRP installation process will be distributed through multiple centres in RTOs across the state to avoid last-minute congestion.
The HSRP cost ranges from Rs 531 to Rs 879 per vehicle, depending on size and type. Enforcement will only begin after the deadline, and non-compliance will lead to fines under Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Start the registration process today! Visit the official portal and get your HSRP before the rush begins.
