Central Railway Announces Special Night Block Between Parel and Byculla on October 4–5

Mumbai: In a bid to enhance infrastructure and ensure safer train operations, the Central Railway has announced a special night block between Parel and Byculla stations on the UP fast line. The block will take place from 12:30 am to 4:30 am on October 5, 2025, affecting mail, express, and special train services during the window.
According to an official release, the block is necessary for the conversion of DSS point number 127A at Byculla station—from a 52 kg section to a 60 kg section. This technical upgrade is part of Central Railway’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the suburban railway network and improve operational safety across its routes.
The affected section lies between Parel (excluding) and Byculla (including), both key stations on the Mumbai suburban line. The timing of the block—scheduled in the early hours of Sunday—has been chosen to minimize disruption to daily suburban commuters.
Railway authorities have also stated that Mail/Express trains and special trains scheduled to operate during this block may face regulation, short-termination, or delayed arrivals depending on operational requirements. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated through official announcements.
A spokesperson from Central Railway said, “These blocks are essential for maintaining safe and efficient train operations. We request passengers to cooperate with the administration during this period.”
The railway administration has appealed to all commuters for their understanding, underlining that such periodic maintenance is vital for long-term safety and service efficiency.
