CM Devendra Fadnavis Holds High-Level Security Meet Amid India-Pakistan Tensions; Emphasizes Cybersecurity, Intelligence Sharing

Mumbai | May 12, 2025 : In the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday convened a high-level security assessment meeting at his official residence, ‘Varsha’, with senior defence and state officials to review the preparedness of security and critical infrastructure in the state.
The meeting was attended by top-ranking officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, alongside key officials from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Mumbai Port Trust, and senior bureaucrats from the state government. Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were also present.
Addressing the gathering, CM Fadnavis underlined the need for robust intelligence sharing, enhanced cybersecurity protocols, and seamless coordination between state and central agencies. “Mumbai, being the financial capital of the country, is a prime target. Our preparedness must be absolute, and intelligence coordination is crucial,” he stated.
He also referred to the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’, praising the accuracy and capability of Indian armed forces. “The efficiency displayed during Operation Sindoor was unmatched. It is a testament to what coordinated effort can achieve,” he remarked.

Lt General Pawan Chadha, Colonel Sandeep Seal, Rear Admiral Anil Jaggi, Commander Nitesh Garg, and Air Vice Marshal Rajat Mohan participated in the meeting on behalf of the armed forces. Discussions focused on Mumbai’s strategic importance and ensuring readiness against any potential threat.
In a prior meeting held on Friday, CM Fadnavis had directed key departments to prepare district-level response plans and raise public awareness regarding safety measures, as the India-Pakistan situation remained tense following recent developments.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining peace, security, and public confidence, stating, “We must act swiftly, stay alert, and safeguard the interests of the people of Maharashtra.”
