Colleague Brutally Kills Woman in Parking Lot as Onlookers Remain Silent

Pune, Maharashtra: In a shocking incident that has sparked nationwide outrage, a 28-year-old woman was brutally attacked and killed by her colleague in the parking lot of a BPO office in Pune's Ramwadi, Yerawada, on Tuesday. Despite over 20 witnesses present, none stepped forward to intervene during the gruesome attack.

The victim, Shubhada Kodare, was attacked with a cleaver by 30-year-old Krishna Satyanarayan Kanojia, who allegedly targeted her over a financial dispute. Kanojia lent her ₹4 lakh a year ago, claiming it was for her father's medical treatment. However, he later discovered her father had no health issues and demanded his money back. When Shubhada refused and even filed a non-cognizable complaint against him, Kanojia reportedly planned the attack.

A one-minute video of the horrifying crime, captured by an onlooker, surfaced online on Thursday, showing Shubhada collapsing as blood pooled around her. Onlookers subdued Kanojia only after he discarded the weapon.

Shubhada succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital later that day. The accused has since been arrested, and police investigations are ongoing.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has condemned the attack, demanding immediate action and a detailed report from Maharashtra Police. The tragedy has sparked debates on bystander indifference and the pressing need to improve workplace safety for women.

Shubhada's tragic death serves as a grim reminder of the societal failure to intervene in moments of need, raising questions about moral responsibility and the safety of women in workplaces.
