Tech-Savvy Teens Behind Delhi School Bomb Threat Hoaxes, Police Say

Delhi: In a startling development, Delhi Police have apprehended a private school student suspected of being at the center of a series of bomb threat hoaxes targeting schools across the city. These emails, warning of “massive and highly dangerous explosives” allegedly planted on campuses, created widespread panic and led to swift action by the police and fire services on Wednesday.

Authorities revealed that Tagore International School was the first to report the threatening email at 11:17 am, followed closely by Bluebells School International at 11:40 am. Among the 16 targeted institutions were prominent schools such as Modern School, Delhi Public School in R.K. Puram and Vasant Vihar, Amity International, Springdales, and Frank Anthony Public School.

Investigators, using technical surveillance, traced the emails to a student from one of the affected schools. During questioning, the student admitted to being part of a group involved in these cybercrimes for several months. The group is believed to have used Gmail accounts along with VPNs to conceal their identity, indicating a significant level of technical knowledge and planning.

Sources from the police headquarters indicated that all students suspected of involvement are from the same school. A senior officer added, “We are currently analyzing evidence with the help of forensic experts to determine the full extent of their involvement before taking legal action.”

This case underscores growing concerns about cybercrimes involving tech-savvy young individuals. Delhi Police continue their thorough investigation, determined to hold all responsible parties accountable and prevent such disruptions in the future.
