Crackdown on Illegal Immigration: Two Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested in Bhiwandi

Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, India: In a recent operation, Bhiwandi City police arrested two Bangladeshi nationals, Ramzan Shaikh (32) and Kabir Shaikh (40), for residing illegally in the Indira Nagar slum area without proper documentation. Both were employed as plumbers in the area. They were arrested and presented in court.
The duo had fled Bangladesh due to poverty and unemployment, seeking better opportunities in India. This case highlights the ongoing issue of illegal immigration and the need for strict enforcement of immigration laws.
According to Indian law, individuals without valid documentation are illegal immigrants. The Foreigners Act, 1946 defines illegal immigrants as non-citizens, subject to detention and deportation. Violations under the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920, and the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939, carry fines from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000, with potential imprisonment up to 8 years for illegal entry.
This arrest emphasizes the need for strong immigration law enforcement and highlights the importance of addressing the root causes of illegal immigration, such as poverty and unemployment, through international cooperation and development initiatives.
