Ghatkopar Couple Booked for Assaulting Ola Cab Driver in Disturbing Incident

Mumbai:In a troubling development in Ghatkopar, a couple has been booked by Mumbai Police following an assault on an Ola cab driver after a minor collision involving their Audi vehicle. The altercation, which was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, resulted in significant injuries to the 24-year-old driver.

The incident occurred on the night of August 18 at approximately 11:20 PM. Qayamuddin Ansari, the Ola driver, was transporting a passenger towards Ulwe in Navi Mumbai when his vehicle was hit from behind by an Audi near Asalpha Metro station. Ansari exited his cab to assess the damage, only to be met with hostility from the Audi's occupants.

The couple in the Audi, identified as Rishabh Chakraborty (35), a journalist, and his wife Antara Ghosh (27), allegedly began to verbally abuse Ansari. Ghosh reportedly removed the Ola cab device from Ansari’s vehicle and attempted to drive away. In response, Ansari followed the Audi, which led to a collision at the entrance of a building opposite a mall in Ghatkopar.

Surveillance footage from the building’s CCTV cameras shows Chakraborty aggressively confronting Ansari. The video depicts Chakraborty slapping Ansari, lifting him, and then slamming him to the ground, causing head injuries to the driver. Ansari was first taken to Rajawadi Hospital and later transferred to JJ Hospital due to the severity of his head injuries.

Following Ansari’s complaint, Mumbai Police have registered a case against Chakraborty and Ghosh. Both individuals have been issued notices to appear in court. The police are currently investigating the incident and reviewing evidence from both parties involved.
