Mumbai : 55-Year-Old Man Booked for Knife Attack, Rape Threats Against Trans Woman in Goregaon

Mumbai, June 3 – In a shocking incident rooted in a family property dispute, a 55-year-old man has been booked by Goregaon police for allegedly stabbing a 38-year-old transgender woman and issuing rape threats during a violent confrontation at his residence in Goregaon East.

The accused, identified as the victim’s uncle, allegedly attacked the trans woman when she visited him to confront him over the unauthorized transfer of a family property, currently under redevelopment. According to the victim’s statement, the man had transferred the property into his name without the consent of other rightful heirs, triggering the altercation.

The argument quickly escalated, leading to the accused stabbing the victim in the back and issuing serious threats of sexual violence. The woman, who shares a residence with three other transgender individuals in Goregaon East, sought medical treatment for her injuries and later approached the police to file a formal complaint.

The Goregaon police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and have launched an investigation into the matter.
