Bhubaneswar:In the aftermath of Cyclone Dana, early estimates suggest extensive damage to agricultural land across affected regions. According to preliminary reports, approximately 1,75,000 acres (69,995 hectares) of cropland may be impacted by the cyclone. Additionally, a further 2,80,000 acres (1,12,310 hectares) are reported to be submerged, based on initial visual assessments.
Arbinda Padhee, Secretary of Agriculture, indicated that field officials from the Department of Agriculture (@krushibibhag) have been mobilized to assess and record crop losses of 33% or more. This assessment will be conducted in collaboration with the Revenue Department, following a coordinated team approach under the direct supervision of District Collectors.
The government has prioritized rapid and accurate documentation of crop losses to facilitate timely support and relief for affected farmers. Further updates are expected as field officials complete their evaluations in the coming days
