New Delhi:With the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi Chief Minister, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to determine a new Chief Minister during its legislative meeting scheduled for Tuesday. The meeting will take place at 11 AM at the CM's residence, while Kejriwal will submit his resignation to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena at 4:30 PM.
The party has conducted one-on-one meetings with leaders from the Political Affairs Committee to discuss the selection of a new CM. According to AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, Kejriwal sought individual feedback on his replacement during these meetings. The legislative party meeting tomorrow will further discuss and finalize the decision.
Kejriwal announced his resignation on Sunday and has refused to assume the CM's position until he is declared "honest" by the people of Delhi. He has also called for advancing elections in Delhi to November this year, instead of the scheduled February elections.
The decision of the new Chief Minister will be crucial for the future of AAP in Delhi and it remains to be seen who will take on this responsibility.
