In the RG Kar case, the CBI has uncovered new evidence, revealing that money was demanded from the victim.

Kolkata:In the RG Kar Medical College case, where a trainee female doctor was murdered and raped, the CBI has now uncovered crucial information. The central investigating agency has revealed that the victim was demanded a sum of ₹15 lakh, part of which was sought for allowing her to submit her research paper, and the remainder was for passing her exams. The victim had refused to pay this amount, after which she was continuously harassed for the past year. The investigation has uncovered that the refusal to pay led to her being tormented in various ways during her hospital duties. The victim had informed her friends and close ones that she was uncomfortable performing her duties and was considering reporting the matter to higher authorities in writing.

Efforts to Appear 'Normal'

According to CBI sources, some hospital staff were instructed to "handle" the situation. However, it remains unclear who these individuals were and who issued the orders. The CBI team investigating the case is still working to gather clear evidence. An official noted that while serious allegations have emerged, gathering admissible evidence for the court has been challenging. The reconstruction of the incident has also faced several interruptions, complicating the understanding of what happened throughout the night.

Contradictory Statements About the Night of the Incident

During the investigation, it was found that statements from some individuals present in the emergency building at RG Kar Medical College that night did not match up. Information from their phones and some videos has greatly assisted the investigators. Notably, shocking details related to the demand for money were discovered from the phone of one of the victim’s classmates. The CBI’s investigation has so far indicated that the events of the night occurred between the burn unit on the second floor and the general medicine department on the sixth floor. The victim was seen repeatedly moving between the fourth and sixth floors that night, particularly around the seminar room on the fourth floor, where her body was found, and the orthopedics department on the fifth floor, which are considered significant.

Who Was at the Hospital That Night?

According to the CBI, all technicians and ward staff working on the fourth floor that night have been identified. Information has been gathered about four respiratory care technicians, 12 ward attendants, seven nursing staff, and seven interns and house staff. CCTV footage from the fourth floor shows a suspected conspirator, but no one witnessed them entering the seminar room.

The CBI has concluded that the night’s events involve multiple layers, and several other rooms at the crime scene are now under investigation.
