ED Summons POA Holder Ajay Sharma in Connection with Illegal Construction of 41 Buildings in Vasai

Vasai, March 27, 2025 – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Ajay Sharma, the Power of Attorney (POA) holder, in connection with the illegal construction of 41 buildings in Vasai Taluka, following an investigation into alleged land grabbing and construction violations.

On March 21, Sharma appeared before the ED to discuss the ongoing probe, which focuses on how land was illegally appropriated and how the construction of these buildings occurred over the years in Agarwal Nagri, Vasai East. The 41 buildings, which stood on plots meant for essential public services, such as sewage treatment plants and a dumping ground, were ordered for demolition by the Supreme Court.

Sources confirmed that Sharma, as the POA holder, was questioned in detail regarding the events surrounding the construction of these buildings. The ED’s inquiry is examining the entire cycle of land acquisition, unauthorized building activity, and potential involvement of various parties in the illegal scheme.

The demolitions have had a significant impact on the local community, with approximately 2,500 families being displaced despite having paid taxes on their properties. Many of these residents, who believed they were in compliance with local laws, now face uncertainty regarding their future.

The ED is working to uncover any illegal dealings related to the construction process and is investigating all aspects of the land grab in the area. Further developments are expected as the investigation continues.

This case highlights the ongoing struggle against illegal land acquisitions and unauthorized construction in the region, with authorities taking a firm stance following the Supreme Court’s order.
