Madh, Mumbai: Early Sunday, a fishing boat belonging to Hemdeep Harishchandra Tipri of Madh Koliwada sank off the coast near Madh in Mumbai's Malad area after being struck by a cargo ship.

The boat was retrieved by the local rescue group Savati with the aid of eight other vessels, ensuring there were no casualties. A sailor onboard the fishing boat was safely rescued by the team.

Personnel from the Navy and Coast Guard also assisted in the rescue and retrieval efforts, according to a police official. Prompt action by local and naval teams prevented the situation from escalating.

This incident highlights the vigilance and coordination required for maritime safety in the region.
