Florida Senator Marco Rubio Could Be Trump’s Secretary of State

Washington : Florida Senator Marco Rubio could be appointed as the Secretary of State by newly elected President Donald J. Trump. This possibility was suggested by three close associates of Trump. They mentioned that Trump might nominate Rubio for the role of Secretary of State.
According to The New York Times, three close individuals familiar with Trump’s approach stated on Monday that he is quickly moving ahead with strengthening foreign and national policies. It seems that a decision has already been made in favor of Rubio. Rubio was elected to the Senate in 2010 and is considered an expert on China, Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba. His stance on Russia has been tough. Rubio could potentially assist Trump in negotiating a deal with Russia over Ukraine and finding a way to remain outside of NATO.
During his previous service in Congress, Rubio advocated for industrial policies to help the United States better compete with China’s state-directed economy. He has also served as the co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional-Executive Commission on China. His 2020 bill addressing China’s treatment of its ethnic Uyghur minority was significant, and President Biden signed it into law the following year.
