GOLDPETAL futures contract drops by 2.35%, while CRUDEOIL futures gains by 1.12% and NATURALGAS futures gains by 2.55%

Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.121738.36 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 till 4:30 pm. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 24162.65 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 97572.2 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX May-25 futures was reached at 22100.

Commodity Future Contracts:

Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of GOLD and SILVER futures variants clocked Rs. 21430.11 crores. At the time of writing, MCX GOLD futures, with June-2025 expiry contract was down by Rs.1675 or 1.72% to Rs. 95665 per 10 gram, GOLDTEN April-2025 contract was down by Rs.1802 or 1.85% to Rs. 95700 per 10 gram, GOLDGUINEA April-2025 contract was down by Rs.1369 or 1.75% to Rs. 76890 per 8 gram and GOLDPETAL April-2025 contract was down by Rs.231 or 2.35% to Rs. 9610 per gram. On other hand, GOLDM May-2025 contract was down by Rs.1666 or 1.72% to Rs. 95391 per 10 gram.

SILVER futures, with May expiry contract was up by Rs.379 or 0.4% to Rs. 96258 per kg, while SILVERM April-2025 contract was up by Rs.416 or 0.43% to Rs. 96133 per kg and SILVERMIC April-2025 contract was up by Rs.430 or 0.45% to Rs. 96088 per kg.

GOLD futures clocked turnover of Rs. 11413.21 crores with volume of 11925 lots and OI of 21368 lots while SILVER futures clocked turnover of Rs. 2861.94 crores with volume of 9894 lots and OI of 20512 lots.

Base Metal: Turnover of base metal futures products accounted for Rs. 1570.22 crores. COPPER April-2025 contract was up by Rs.6 or 0.7% to Rs. 857.3 per kg and ZINC April-2025 contract was up by Rs.2.7 or 1.09% to Rs. 250.4 per kg while ALUMINIUM April-2025 contract was up by Rs.2 or 0.86% to Rs. 233.45 per kg and LEAD April-2025 contract was up by Rs.0.65 or 0.37% to Rs. 175.6 per kg.

COPPER futures clocked turnover of Rs. 951.72 crores, ALUMINIUM futures Rs. 173.35 crores, LEAD futures Rs. 52.25 crores, and ZINC futures clocked turnover of Rs. 280.16 crores.

Energy: Turnover of energy futures products contributed for Rs. 1158.08 crores. CRUDEOIL May-2025 contract was up by Rs.61 or 1.12% to Rs. 5513 per BBL while NATURALGAS April-2025 contract was up by Rs.6.5 or 2.55% to Rs. 261.6 per MMBTU.

CRUDE OIL futures clocked turnover of Rs. 317.04 crores and NATURAL GAS futures Rs. 654.78 crores.

AGRI: MENTHAOIL April-2025 contract was down by Rs.7.2 or 0.78% to Rs. 911 per kg .

Options on Commodity Future Contracts:

Commodity Options accounted for Rs. 97572.2 crores turnover (notional), having premium turnover of Rs. 1010.4 crores.

CRUDE OIL Options: Most traded contracts among CRUDE OIL Options were Call Option May contract at Strike price of Rs.5500 was up by Rs.25.1 or 13.18% to Rs. 215.50 with volume of 28278 lots & OI of 8885 lots, while CRUDE OIL Put Option May-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.5500 was down by Rs.34.2 or 14.16% to Rs. 207.4 with volume of 22928 lots & OI of 6012 lots.

NATURAL GAS Options: Most traded contracts among NATURAL GAS Options were Call Option April contract at Strike price of Rs.260 was up by Rs.2 or 95.24% to Rs. 4.10 with volume of 51044 lots & OI of 14595 lots, while NATURAL GAS Put Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.260 was down by Rs.4.2 or 60% to Rs. 2.8 with volume of 35755 lots & OI of 11033 lots.

GOLD Options: Most traded contracts among GOLD Options were Call Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.97000 was down by Rs.729.5 or 49.51% to Rs. 744 with volume of 4099 lots & OI of 529 lots, while GOLD Put Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.95000 was up by Rs.395 or 81.44% to Rs. 880 with volume of 3823 lots & OI of 1152 lots.

SILVER Options: Most traded contracts among SILVER Options were Call Option April contract at Strike price of Rs.97000 was down by Rs.99 or 16.53% to Rs. 500 with volume of 6655 lots & OI of 1393 lots, while SILVER Put Option April-2025 contract at Strike price of Rs.95000 was down by Rs.149.5 or 30.29% to Rs. 344 with volume of 8159 lots & OI of 1322 lots.
