Gulf Air Flight GF213 Lands Safely in Kuwait After Bomb Threat; Suspect Arrested

Kuwait City, June 9: A potential crisis was averted on Sunday after Gulf Air Flight GF213 landed safely at Kuwait International Airport following a bomb threat. The flight underwent a full emergency response protocol, with all passengers evacuated safely and the suspect responsible for the threat taken into custody, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of Kuwait.

In an official statement, the DGCA confirmed that emergency procedures were immediately activated upon receiving the threat, in full coordination with the Ministry of Interior and other relevant authorities. The aircraft was subjected to comprehensive security screening, and no injuries were reported.

“All passengers were safely evacuated and moved to a designated lounge within the airport premises. They remain in good condition,” the statement read. Security teams conducted thorough checks of the aircraft to ensure that there was no explosive device or security threat onboard.

DGCA spokesperson Abdullah Al Rajhi stated that airport operations remained unaffected, and flights continued as scheduled. He added that the incident was “handled swiftly and professionally,” with standard aviation safety and security protocols guiding the response.

The identity of the detained suspect has not been released, but authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings and a full investigation into the incident are currently underway.

The incident, though resolved without injury or disruption to flight schedules, highlights the importance of rigorous security infrastructure and rapid coordination between aviation and law enforcement agencies in responding to potential threats.

Gulf Air has not yet released an individual statement on the matter, but sources within the airline confirmed their full cooperation with Kuwaiti authorities and expressed relief over the safe outcome.
