Holkar Stadium Receives Bomb Threat Over ‘Operation Sindoor’, Turns Out to Be Hoax

Indore, May 10: Panic spread in Indore on Friday after the Holkar Stadium received a bomb threat via email, allegedly in retaliation for the Indian armed forces' "Operation Sindoor". However, after an intensive search operation lasting several hours, police confirmed that the threat was a hoax.

According to Jitendra Singh Yadav, in-charge of Tukoganj Police Station, the threatening email was sent to the official email ID of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA). “The message, written in English, warned that the stadium would be blasted in response to Operation Sindoor,” Yadav told PTI.

Upon receiving the alert, police swung into action. Four teams of police personnel, along with a bomb detection and disposal squad, conducted a thorough five-hour search of the stadium premises. “No suspicious object was found,” Yadav confirmed.

Initial investigations suggest that the email may have been a "copy-paste" attempt made to cause disruption and panic. “Prima facie, it appears to be a mischief-driven act, though we are exploring all possible angles,” said a senior officer involved in the probe.

Police have initiated an investigation in collaboration with the cyber crime department to trace the origin of the email. Legal action will follow once the sender is identified.

Authorities also revealed that this is not an isolated incident. Over the past few months, fake bomb threats targeting locations such as Indore airport, hospitals, bank branches, and schools have been reported. In one such case, an accused has already been arrested.

Despite the false alarm, the incident has prompted security agencies to reassess and reinforce safety protocols at key public venues in the city.
