Huge cache of arms and explosives seized in Manipur as 'insurgency' soars

Imphal:The operation of the army and other paramilitary forces in Manipur is getting huge success. During the operation, huge amount of arms and explosives have been recovered from separate places of the state.

It is noteworthy that the conflict that started between two communities in Manipur from May 3 last year has now gradually taken the form of insurgency. Weapons and explosives are being supplied to these insurgents from across the border. This is the reason that despite huge amount of arms and other explosives being recovered every day, the process of recovery is not stopping. Insurgents are continuously targeting common citizens and security forces.

It is known that on Tuesday Chief Minister N Biren Singh had termed the attack on civilians and security forces from drone as "insurgent activity". At the same time, security experts believe that insurgents are trying in various ways to prevent the India-Myanmar border from being sealed. Supplies of arms and explosives to terrorists from across the border have been confirmed several times in Mizoram and Manipur during this period.

Manipur Police on Wednesday said that in this connection, search operations and area domination were carried out by security forces in border and sensitive areas of hill and valley districts of the state. During the search operation, one AK-47 rifle and magazine, one HK-33 rifle and magazine, one triple barrel rifle, one .22 rifle, one bolt action rifle, one 12 inch single bore barrel rifle, one HE-36 hand grenade, one Motorola radio set, 10 live ammunition, 75 fired cases, one broken INSAS rifle magazine, one machete, three bulletproof jackets, two black clothes, four blankets, one jungle boot, two backpack bags, one black rain cap and one combat coat were recovered from Mark Hill in Kangpokpi district.

During another search operation, two 2 inch mortar HE bombs were recovered from Haraothell in Kangpokpi district. The operation of security forces is continuing across the state.
