India's Got Latent Controversy: Ranveer Allahbadia Reaches Guwahati Cyber Police Station for Interrogation, Gets Mobbed by Paparazzi

Guwahati: YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, found himself at the center of controversy once again as he appeared for interrogation at Guwahati’s Cyber Police Station on February 12, 2025. This came a day after Allahbadia had appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) in Delhi regarding his controversial remarks made during the show India's Got Latent.
Ranveer’s arrival at the police station was met by a swarm of paparazzi, forcing him to rush inside to avoid the media frenzy. In a video circulating online, the YouTuber was seen wearing a black wristband and accompanied by police officers as he entered the police station for questioning.
The controversy began after Allahbadia, who was a panelist on the India's Got Latent show, made a highly inappropriate and sexually explicit remark during a segment with a contestant. He asked the contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?" This comment sparked outrage, leading to multiple FIRs being lodged against Allahbadia for promoting obscenity and engaging in vulgar discussions.
Earlier this week, the NCW chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar, revealed that Ranveer Allahbadia and fellow panelist Apoorva Mukhija, also known as The Rebel Kid, had submitted apology letters for their inappropriate jokes on the show. Rahatkar emphasized that the commission would not tolerate such offensive language, acknowledging that Allahbadia, Mukhija, and other participants had expressed regret for their actions and apologized for their behavior. The commission also issued notices to the individuals involved, stating that their comments were not acceptable in any context.
Following this, the Supreme Court intervened, allowing Allahbadia to resume uploading his podcasts and shows on social media. However, the court set conditions that he must maintain standards of decency and morality in his content moving forward.
The India's Got Latent row has raised serious concerns about the boundaries of decency in entertainment, with many calling for stricter measures to regulate content that may have adverse social consequences.
