IPL 2025 Suspended Amid Security Concerns; KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal Spotted at Safdarjung Station After Dharamsala Match Abandoned

New Delhi, May 10: The ongoing IPL 2025 tournament was brought to an abrupt halt after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced a week-long suspension of the league, citing rising security concerns following drone strikes from across the border.
The match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at Dharamsala on Thursday was stopped midway due to a floodlight failure, which was later linked to cross-border drone strike alerts across multiple Indian cities. The game was ultimately abandoned, and all further IPL fixtures have been temporarily postponed.
Following the suspension, players from both teams were seen arriving at Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi. In visuals shared by ANI News, Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul and Punjab Kings’ Marco Jansen were seen along with their teammates and support staff, carrying their luggage and appearing visibly concerned amid the developing situation. Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was also among those spotted at the station.
According to reports, the entire contingent—comprising players, coaching staff, IPL commentators, and production crew—traveled by road from Dharamsala to Jalandhar, and later boarded the Vande Bharat Express to reach Delhi safely.
The BCCI’s decision to suspend IPL 2025 follows a spike in cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, marked by recent drone incursions and escalating military activity along the border. A senior BCCI official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the safety of players and stakeholders remains paramount. “We are monitoring the situation closely. A decision on resumption will be taken based on security assessments and consultation with the government,” the official added.
As of now, no revised schedule has been announced. Fans and franchises await clarity as the BCCI, in coordination with central agencies, continues to evaluate the security scenario.
