Kalyan Assault Case: 7 Arrested in Brutal Attack on Maharashtrian Family

Kalyan, Maharashtra: Kalyan Police have arrested seven individuals so far in connection with the violent assault on the Deshmukh family in the Ajmera Heights Society of Kalyan’s Yogidham area. The dispute, which initially started over incense smoke, quickly escalated into a brutal confrontation, leading to the attack on Akhilesh Shukla, an account manager at MTDC, and his wife, along with several other assailants.
The issue began when the Deshmukh family intervened to settle a neighborly dispute regarding the placement of a shoe rack. Akhilesh Shukla, along with eight to ten others, allegedly attacked the Deshmukh family, prompting a police investigation. Six individuals were arrested initially, including Shukla, his wife Geeta, and several others, with one additional suspect, Ritik Ashok Kamble, arrested recently.
Kalyan police confirmed that all the primary accused, including Shukla, are Marathi and from the Kalyan area. Despite the suspects' claims of no regional motives, the incident gained attention after a video circulated online, where Akhilesh Shukla expressed his identity as a Maharashtrian.
In a counter-complaint, Shukla’s wife Geeta accused the Kalvikatte and Deshmukh families of assault, citing a heated argument over an incense stick placement. The matter continues to develop, with police custody granted to the suspects for further investigation. Authorities are still searching for one more suspect linked to the violent altercation.
