Kalyan Case: Accused's Medical Report Raises New Questions

Kalyan, Maharashtra: A medical examination of Vishal Gawli, the main accused in the Kalyan girl's case, has raised concerns. On Friday, doctors at the Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar declared Gawli as "completely normal," contradicting an autism certificate he had previously used to gain bail in an earlier Pocso case.
According to police sources, the medical report stated that Gawli was "well-oriented, conscious, and cooperative," and did not require psychiatric advice. This finding has brought attention to his past defense and legal proceedings.
The case began when a 13-year-old girl from Kalyan went missing on Monday after taking Rs 20 from her mother to buy food. Her body was later discovered in the Bapgaon area of Bhiwandi the following day. Gawli was arrested in Buldhana, and his wife, Sakshi, was detained in Kalyan for her role in the case.
A special investigative team is probing the matter, collecting key evidence and examining statements from the accused. The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has instructed the case be fast-tracked in court with a special public prosecutor.
The community in Kalyan has shown support for swift justice, with local residents voicing their demand for accountability.
