Kangana Ranaut Embraces Ageing, Says Politics Is Kinder to Older Women Than Film Industry

Mumbai | May 31, 2025 : Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has opened up about her thoughts on ageing, contrasting the film industry's obsession with youth against the more accepting nature of politics. In a candid Instagram story posted on Friday, the 39-year-old shared a close-up selfie flaunting her grey hair, expressing that she has never feared getting older.
"My pilgrim soul never feared aging, but when my film crew saw grey hair they panicked, used mascaras/color sprays," she wrote, highlighting the pressures actresses often face to maintain a youthful image on screen.
Kangana, now a sitting Member of Parliament from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, reflected on how her transition into politics has brought her a sense of peace and acceptance. "Happy to be in a place where my aging face or body doesn't take anything away from me. Aging is such a joy. Do you guys think politics is kinder to older women than movies? I definitely think so," she added.
In another story, she posted a second selfie along with the caption: "The most beautiful place in the world is where there is no gap between who you are and how you are perceived."
Kangana regularly attends Parliament sessions and is actively involved in social work in her constituency. Her statement has resonated with many who see it as a broader commentary on how different professions treat ageing, especially for women.
On the professional front, Kangana was last seen in Emergency, a historical drama where she portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, which also marked her directorial debut, featured an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Shreyas Talpade.
She is also set to make her Hollywood debut in the upcoming horror drama Blessed Be The Evil, produced by US-based Lions Movies. The film will see her star alongside Teen Wolf actor Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone, daughter of Sylvester Stallone.
Additionally, Kangana is working on a psychological thriller with R. Madhavan and has another project titled Bharat Bhagya Vidhata in the pipeline. While there is ongoing speculation about sequels to her popular films Queen and Tanu Weds Manu, no official confirmation has been made.
