Kidnapped Actor Escapes: Mushtaq Khan's Thrilling Tale of Escape

MUMBAI: Actor Mushtaq Khan, 54, is recovering from a harrowing kidnapping ordeal that unfolded after he was lured to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, with a fake award function invitation. The seasoned actor was lured under the pretense of attending an event as a chief guest. “I was promised an advance and flight tickets, making it seem legitimate,” said Khan, revealing how his trust led him into the hands of his kidnappers.
Once in Delhi, Khan was driven to Meerut and eventually to Bijnor, where two men held him at gunpoint, confirming that his worst fears had come true. Despite being locked in captivity, Khan seized an opportunity for freedom. Hearing the azaan at 5:45 AM, he slipped out of the hideout, heading for the nearest mosque. “I knew I had to act fast,” he recalled.
The abductors had also emptied his and his son Mohsin’s bank accounts, transferring ₹1.24 lakh from Khan’s account and ₹1.06 lakh from his son's account. Khan's escape was only possible when a local family took him in from the mosque. From there, a family friend picked him up from Ghaziabad, and he eventually reached safety. Six out of the nine accused have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping.
