Lawyers in Vasai Begin Protest for New Court Building

Vasai:Lawyers in Vasai have initiated a protest starting from September 2, 2024, demanding the construction of a new court building and the immediate allocation of land by the government for this purpose. The current building of the Vasai court is in a severely dilapidated state, which has led to numerous challenges, including insufficient seating space for judges and litigants, as well as inadequate storage for court files. The absence of a generator facility in the building is further disrupting the smooth functioning of court proceedings.

For many years, the legal fraternity in Vasai has been advocating for a well-equipped court building to address these issues. The High Court had previously given its approval for the construction of a new building on City Survey Number 376. However, despite this approval, there has been a significant delay at the government level in transferring the land to the court's name, which has caused growing frustration among the lawyers.

The Bar Association has made a formal appeal to the government, urging them to expedite the land transfer process and commence the construction of a modern and fully equipped court building. Along with this, the lawyers have also requested an increase in the number of judges to ensure the speedy resolution of the numerous pending cases.

The Bar Association is calling for widespread support for this protest, emphasizing that the improvement of the court's infrastructure is essential for the efficient delivery of justice in the region. They believe that a well-equipped court building will significantly enhance the legal process, benefiting both the judiciary and the public.
