Areas of Guwahati submerged due to heavy rains, life disrupted

Guwahati:Many areas of Guwahati city have been submerged due to heavy rains on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The Indian Meteorological Department had warned of heavy rains yesterday evening. The administration had warned of 7 to 11 cm of rain. Due to waterlogging in many areas of the city, life has been disrupted. Common people are facing a lot of trouble.

Many areas of Guwahati including GS Road, Tarun Nagar, Nabinnagar, Zoo Road, Ambikagiri Nagar, Ganeshguri, Chandmari, Beltala, Hathigaon, Geeta Nagar, Six-Mile, Rukminigaon, Noonmati, Kahilipara, Jorabat etc. have been flooded. Traffic has been disrupted due to floods. Vehicles are stuck on the roads. At many places, people's houses are filled with water upto their waist. Life has been completely affected. It is known that many areas of Guwahati city are getting submerged in water in just 1 hour of heavy rain.

This has happened many times in this year's rainy season. Water from the mountains of Meghalaya comes and creates a situation of severe flood in Guwahati. According to the warning issued by the administration, there is a possibility of more rain.
