Maharashtra Cabinet Expansion Scheduled for December 14, Confirms Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

Mumbai - Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has confirmed that the long-awaited cabinet expansion will take place on December 14. He announced the date after visiting NCP chief Sharad Pawar on his birthday.

Pawar also raised concerns about the price of sugarcane, urging Union Minister Amit Shah to consider increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to support farmers. NCP leader Praful Patel, who met Amit Shah, clarified that their visit was a "courtesy call" and discussed issues related to the welfare of farmers, especially in the sugarcane, cotton, and soybean sectors.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis clarified that the formula for cabinet expansion has been finalised and an announcement will be made soon. He responded to speculation about his recent visit to Delhi, stating it was for party meetings while Pawar attended to personal matters. Fadnavis emphasized that the BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena will decide their ministerial posts.

The delay in cabinet appointments has sparked criticism, especially from UBT Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who questioned the lack of clarity on the home minister following violent incidents in Parbhani.

The controversy follows the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s victory in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, where they secured 235 seats. The cabinet expansion is expected soon, and new ministers will take office shortly.
